Despite 7,800 newcomers since 2015, population drop shows Wood Buffalo's changing pace

A more detailed census released Tuesday by the municipality shows more than 7,800 people moved to Wood Buffalo since the last census was conducted in 2015, although the municipality’s total population has dropped by nearly 11 per cent.
The 2018 census shows Wood Buffalo has an overall population of 111,687 people, down from the 125,032 residents counted in 2015. At 54.9 per cent, the town is still mostly male as 45.1 per cent of people identified as female.
