Decision to limit coverage for opioid therapy drugs may leave some Albertans hanging
The NDP government’s refusal to universally cover opioid replacement drugs is raising questions around whether some lower-income Albertans are being unfairly neglected, and whether the province violated a promise to expand coverage for the vital medications.
Advocates involved in the province’s fentanyl crisis say they have concerns about the effect of the government’s move on about 20 per cent of the population that currently does not have any drug coverage.
