Council approves $800,000 plan for animal protection enforcement to expand resources
The City of Edmonton is planning to expand its resources for animal protection through a new plan costing $800,000 annually — $600,000 more than the previous model — after the humane society decided to step away from its enforcement role at the end of January.
The proposed plan, passed by city council Tuesday morning without debate, would provide enforcement of the Animal Protection Act seven days a week through four animal control peace officers.
