Committee to discuss ditching separation distances for downtown, Oliver liquor stores
A proposal to scrap separation distance requirements for liquor stores in parts of the city core has at least one councillor worried there could be negative fallout.
A report going to city council’s urban planning committee Tuesday proposes the creation of a “liquor store opportunity area” for downtown and Oliver.
The change would allow new liquor stores to set up shop less than 500 metres from existing stores in an area that spans 97 Street to 121 Street between Jasper Avenue
