Bike lane removal spurs driver havoc on extra-wide road

A wide one-lane road on 97 Street as a result of scraped-off bike lanes is wreaking havoc during rush hour.
Concerned commuter Nicky Baumle said traffic congestion on 97 Street that is mostly one lane between 34 Avenue and 63 Avenue prompts drivers to try to breeze by on the edge of the road where the bike lanes used to be.
That can create more congestion, said Baumle, who drives the stretch four times a day and has seen vehicles hop the curb and collisions as a result.
