Big budgeting: Edmonton rolls out proposed four-year, $4.3-billion capital budget

City administrators are pitching $4.3 billion in spending over the next four years, according to the proposed 2019-2022 capital budget released Thursday morning.
About 45 per cent of capital investment will go into renewing existing infrastructure, while 55 per cent is earmarked for planning and building new projects. The renewal money works out to $488 million per year, less than the city’s model projected is needed to restore assets to ideal condition.
