ASIRT investigating after man found dead in Edmonton police cells

The Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT) is investigating after a 23-year-old man was found dead in an Edmonton police holding cell at approximately 7:40 a.m. Friday, the Edmonton Police Service said.
A paramedic on duty, along with other staff, administered first aid until emergency medical services arrived after the man was found unresponsive during a routine check. The man was pronounced dead in hospital at 2:05 p.m., Friday, said police spokeswoman Cheryl Sheppard.
