All eyes on Yamamoto but Butcher leads Oiler prospects
PENTICTON, B.C. — Imitation is the finest form of flattery so, yes, Edmonton Oilers GM Peter Chiarelli was thinking of Calgary Flames dancing winger Johnny Gaudreau as he eyeballed Kailer Yamamoto heading into the June NHL draft in Chicago.
Chiarelli was always big on the small Yamamoto as he scouted him.
And there were lots of viewings of the kid who was five-foot-eight and 146 pounds back then.
