Alberta's artist-in-residence plans large-scale map focusing on Indigenous culture
Alberta’s first artist-in-residence is an Indigenous woman who plans to travel the province and to create a large-scale painted map highlighting Indigenous culture, language and deep connection to the land.
Lauren Crazybull, 24, said her collage will focus on Indigenous stories and the natural world at a time of “ecological disaster.” Climate change affects everyone, she said. “As an artist, I’m not exempt from that.”
