Alberta had largest increase as police-reported hate crimes in Canada rose five per cent in 2015: StatsCan

Alberta had the largest increase in hate crimes in 2015 compared to other provinces, with the surge primarily driven by crimes targeting Muslim, Arab or West Asian communities, said Statistics Canada.   
Police reported 193 hate crimes in 2015 compared with 139 in 2014, with more crimes motivated by hatred against these groups as well as black populations and the Jewish population, according to data published Tuesday.
