Alberta government creates new commission to combat opioid crisis

The province is creating a new commission to help combat Alberta’s opioid problem.
The commission, which will be co-chaired by Dr. Karen Grimsrud, the province’s chief medical officer of health, will aim to bring together doctors, police officers, frontline workers and parents who lost children to fentanyl.
One of the first priorities will be expanding drug coverage for opioid replacement therapy. The government will also be looking to expand the distribution of naloxone, a drug
