12 contenders seek to replace veteran councillor in Ward 4

If the early days are any indication, Ward 4 will be the most crowded race of Edmonton’s 2017 civic election. 
At least a dozen people are running in the northeast Edmonton ward to replace veteran councillor Ed Gibbons, who is retiring after five terms on council. It is one of three undefended seats up for grabs during the Oct. 16 contest.  
A dozen people have declared their intentions to run so far. Candidates are not official until nomination day on Sept. 18.
