Women at impasse find relief at Phoenix Rising

Though it keeps a relatively low profile around town, Phoenix Rising Women’s Centre has helped women in Sault Ste. Marie since 1986.
Executive Director Lee Fraser describes the organization’s downtown drop-in centre as a place for women to gather, but with no need for paperwork, and with the only criteria for access being that a person identifies as a woman.
In addition to the drop-in centre, Phoenix Rising operates an apartment building on Manitou Drive for women and children only.
