Transits up, cargo volume static on St. Lawrence Seaway

Traffic on the St. Lawrence Seaway, including the Soo Locks in Sault Ste. Marie, Mich. was up in July. Transits totalled 1,839, up 4.7 per cent from 1,757 transits in July 2025, St. Lawrence Seaway Management Corp. said. Total cargo shipped nudged down .13 per cent from 16.52 to 16.50 tonnes.All grain fell 4.2 per cent from 5.25 million tonnes to 5.03 million tonnes. Iron ore dipped 5.8 per cent from 2.57 million tonnes to 2.42 million tonnes. Coal dropped 5.7 per cent from 612,000 tonnes to 57
