Thessalon emergency department shutters this week

North Shore Health Network will shutter its Thessalon Site from 8 a.m. Thursday to 10 a.m. Friday, blaming doctor shortages. To “ensure continued access to care,” a nurse practitioner will remain available on-site throughout the closure, the network said in a Wednesday morning release.Physician shortages have hit emergency departments within the North Shore Health Network jurisdiction hard, with Thessalon often taking the brunt.The community, east of Sault Ste.
