Richard Byrd celebrates his first-place finish in the 2.5-kilometre Nordic skiing event at Special Olympics Ontario Provincial Winter Games Sault Ste. Marie 2019 at Hiawatha Highlands on Saturday. Byrd, from Peterborough, Ont., also placed second in the 500 metre and third in the one-kilometre races. Byrd started competing in Special Olympics in 2006.
