PUC to close in-house payment; focus on digital improvements
Sault Ste. Marie PUC customers will not be able to pay their utility bills in person anymore, starting in the new year.
Giordan Zin, PUC communication supervisor, said the in-house payment option is being discontinued because it is not well used.
Only 1.4 per cent of the PUC’s 33,000 customers drop off cash payments for the bills and only 3 per cent make their payment at the Second Line office. The in person method includes a mix of customer demographics but leans towards older customers.
