Plastic straws yanked from GFL Memorial Gardens

It’s game over for plastic straws at GFL Memorial Gardens as the city-owned arena searches for more environmentally friendly ways to serve food and drink to hockey fans and concert-goers.
Patrons decide if they take a straw with their cold drink. The arena orders about 43,000 cups a year.
Hockey fans who are watching the Soo Greyhounds during training camp will now see paper straws at concession stands.
