A pair of mallard ducks (the male sports the glossy green head) has called a large puddle near the corner of Second Line East and Old Garden River Road home for some time, sharing their swampy quarters with seagulls and other feathered creatures. Mallards usually form pairs until the female lays eggs at the start of the nesting season, around the beginning of spring.
