Mayor for a Day promotes public-private partnerships

Perzan Umrigar has an idea on how to hold the line on taxes, create a public-private partnership and improve city sidewalks for the community.
He calls it Sponsor a Sidewalk and his submission earned him the winning entry for the Mayor for a Day contest.
Umrigar, a Grade 5 student at Holy Cross Catholic High School, celebrated his contest win Monday.
His duties Monday included giving the official opening of city council, the last meeting prior to the Oct. 22 election.
