Knights of Columbus burns: REMEMBER WHEN
Firefighters battle a blaze at the Dawson Block at Queen Street East and East Street in February 1953. The fire gutted Knights of Columbus clubrooms on the building’s third floor. Seven residents, including an elderly woman in a wheelchair, fled during a snowstorm with the mercury standing at – 23 C.
