Hot dogs get relief
In response to provincewide news reports of dogs being left in distress in sweltering cars, council passed a No Hot Pets bylaw at its regular August council meeting.
Bylaw 2018-25 states that no one may leave an animal unattended inside a vehicle during unsuitable weather conditions, such as heat waves. The bylaw also requires animals in the passenger compartments of vehicles to have adequate ventilation and to be restrained to prevent them from coming in contact with members of the public.
