Forest fire scientist illuminates this season's 'extreme fire events'

Sault Ste. Marie and much of NorthernOntario were placed under extreme firedanger rating – the highest ratingavailable – by the Ontario Ministry ofNatural Resources and Forestry thissummer. While no longer under thisdesignation, fire restrictions havebeen put in place to mitigate thenumerous active fires and high firerisk in the area.
