Fire ban still in effect and enforced

The regional open fire ban is still in effect, and violating it comes at a steep cost, according to Sault Ste. Marie Fire Services (SSMFS).
According to the Government of Ontario, people within a restricted fire zone, which Sault Ste. Marie and area are currently in, cannot have an outdoor fire. This includes all burning, including grass, debris and campfires, even when using an outdoor fire gate, fire place or fire pit.
