Fire at old school deliberately set

A fire was deliberately set a former Catholic elementary school in the city’s west end on Thursday.
Sault Ste. Marie Fire Service was called to St. Veronica’s on East Balfour Street at about 11:30 p.m.
The fire caused extensive damage to the gym area, said Const. Sonny Spina of Sault Ste. Marie Police Service.
The department’s criminal investigations unit is investigating.
