Closing date set for Soo Locks

A tentative closing date for the 2018 navigation season is set for Soo Locks.Jan. 15 is expected to be the last day the locks in Sault Ste. Marie, Mich., will be operational.
“Mariners are reminded that there is always a possibility that severe climatic conditions may occur during the closing period,” that may affect closing dates, The Great Lakes-St. Lawrence Seaway System says.All vessels must be clear of the Welland Canal by Dec. 31.
