City eyes funding program to expand Sault tree canopy

City council has given the nod to staff to apply for funding that would increase the city’s tree canopy over the next five years.The application will be inked to the Federation of Canadian Municipalities Fund Growing Canada’s Community Canopies Tree Planting stream.If successful, the city could receive up to $250,000 in grants, which would be matched by the city’s annual $50,000 contribution over five years.Staff have identified the funding “as a strong opportunity to bu
