Christilaw was Blind River community leader

Ruth Elsie Christilaw, a long-time community volunteer in Blind River, died March 5.She was 93.A native of Port Elgin, Ont., Christilaw moved to Blind River in 1952. She was an elementary school teacher.“Although Mrs. Christilaw agreed to try life in Northern Ontario for one year, the tranquility of the community and the warmth of the people have kept the family here,” The Sault Star reported in 1988.She received a recognition certificate from Ontario Heritage Trust in July 2006. The
