Charges laid in jailhouse riot

Eight inmates at the Algoma Treatment and Remand Centre have been charged in connection with a January incident that resulted in a fire, the damaged property and a facility lockdown.
City police were called in to contain the area but did not enter the Great Northern Road facility, police had said at the time.
The incident also resulted in a number of minor injuries to both inmates and staff. The facility was under lockdown and public visits were suspended.
As a result of a city police investigat
