Chamber bows out of debates; Sault Star ready to ramp up coverage

The Sault Ste. Marie Chamber of Commerce is bowing out of hosting municipal election debates this fall.
With its CEO and acting board president both seeking a position around the next municipal council table, the Chamber of Commerce has withdrawn from participating in the long-standing debates.
Instead, Algoma University will be the lead organization to run those debates, said Megan Kent, communication officer at Algoma U.
Kent said plans are only beginning now and have yet to be finalized.
