Buddy Program would help new cancer patients

The Algoma District Cancer Program is recruiting volunteers for a new Buddy Program it might pilot.
The proposed Buddy Program would partner new cancer patients undergoing treatment with previous cancer patients or loved ones for support. A Buddy might attend appointments with a patient or simply share experiences when a patient needs support.
Brandy Sharp Young, manager of communications and volunteer resources at Sault Area Hospital, said other hospitals operate such a program.
