British war bride celebrated 73 years

Fred and Iris Middleton stayed together for 73 years.Iris died Saturday at F.J. Davey Home. She was 93.Middleton and her husband were married July 7, 1945 in England.Fred served with Nova Scotia Highlanders during the Second World War. She lived in Sheffield in South Yorkshire.Their relationship started when Fred “wanted somebody to correspond with” in England.They met in person in late 1943 or 1944.When Fred was wounded in action, she visited him at a hospital in southern England.
