When you’re 10 and you’re nicknamed Nolonius, after a Greek Spartan, you’re probably going to be empowered to do great things. Like challenging yourself to hike into Agawa Canyon as a way of preparing for your black belt test in karate.
That’s life for Nolan (aka Nolonius) Hicks of St. Thomas, Ont. The 10-year-old karate kid and his father, Russ, recently hiked 47 kilometres in four days, a trip that began with a hike on the Towab trail into Agawa Falls.
