Beware of bogus rental units

Fraudsters are trying to collect deposits for rental properties they don’t own in Sault Ste. Marie, police warn.
Details of numerous properties are being taken from legitimate online advertisements and reposted by wrongdoers who ask victims for e-transfers of cash to secure the apartment or home.
“They’re out the money and they have nowhere to live,” said Const. Sonny Spina.
One bogus post asked for a deposit of $900.
