Youth home abuse settlements hit $2.9 million, 44 outstanding claims remaining

The Saskatchewan government has continued to quietly settle sexual and physical abuse claims filed by people who spent time in a Regina youth jail between the 1970s and 1990s.
As of the end of 2018, 57 individual claimants had received settlements totalling $2.9 million — an average of a little over $50,000 — and 44 unsettled claims remained in the system.
