Wine World: Gavi a swerve from the ordinary

If you find yourself bored with the same old wine, here’s one you should be watching for: Gavi DOC or DOCG white wine. Gavi is made from the Cortese grape in the very southeastern corner of Piemonte. Although the Piemontese claim it as theirs, the truth is the appellation owes much more of their heritage to the adjacent Liguria. The town of Gavi, in the centre of the DOC is about a 45-minute drive from Genoa, closer than Verona is to Padua. The food of the area is really Ligurian, includin
