Want to quit smoking? Lace up those running shoes, study finds
The idea: The Running Room and the Canadian Cancer Society had developed a running program to help people quit. In 2016, 168 participants from across Canada had weekly sessions where they learned about both running and quitting smoking, and worked up to a five-kilometre run. Carly Priebe, a University of British Columbia researcher based in Saskatoon, was recruited to see whether the idea actually worked.
