Vonda relies on neighbours for firefighting services as feud continues between council and fire department
A dispute between a town council and volunteer firefighter department has left a rural Saskatchewan community of 400 people without local firefighting services.
The Town of Vonda, located 50 kilometres northeast of Saskatoon, entered into mediation with its fire and rescue service in late 2017, according to documents sent to the Saskatoon StarPhoenix. The two sides met with a mediator twice in February and the town terminated mediation in April.
