Smoke from elevator fire closes Saskatoon Queen's Bench courthouse

An electrical fire in one of the Saskatoon Queen’s Bench elevators has closed the courthouse for the day, delaying several trials.
Court staff said maintenance was being done on the elevator located in the old part of the courthouse when the fire started just before 9:30 a.m. No one was hurt, but everyone was evacuated.
Two fire trucks initially responded as firefighters tried to ventilate the heavy smoke from the building. A putrid, burnt smell lingered around the back of the courthouse,
