Saskatoon city hall challenges staff to find cost savings

City hall officials want help from all 3,648 of the city’s employees in tackling the 2018 budget challenge.
The administration is staging a 30-day challenge starting Monday, when staff members can submit suggestions for how to save money.
The initiative is a response to a shortfall in budget projections that amount to the equivalent of a 6.48 per cent property tax increase in 2018. The estimated shortfall for the budget is a result of inflation and an anticipated decline in revenues.
