Province takes first steps to improve organ donation rates
As Saskatchewan grapples with organ and tissue donation rates well below the national average, the provincial government is taking what it says are the first steps toward establishing a new donation model.
That involves spending $566,000 this year to hire three new physicians to share a half-time position aimed at increasing awareness among the general public and educating physicians and nurses working in intensive care units.
