Province backtracks, says it will pay for some funeral services for poor

The Saskatchewan government is backtracking on its plan to cut funeral services for people on social assistance.
The government now says in an email that it will pay up to $700 for funeral services or rituals when requested by next of kin.
The services were cut in the government’s March budget to save the cash-strapped province about $1 million.
