Pelican Narrows evacuation order lifted, residents can return home

Most people who fled Pelican Narrows as fires surrounded the northeastern Saskatchewan community can now return home.
Peter Ballantyne Cree Nation Chief Peter Beatty announced Wednesday afternoon that the mandatory evacuation order issued late last month has been lifted.
Because smoke in the area continues to be a concern, people with health issues or who are pregnant are still advised to stay away.
Buses will begin taking evacuees in Saskatoon and Prince Albert back to Pelican Narrows on Thursd
