Paulsen: Public shaming is no way to raise children

There are very few topics as hotly debated as the disciplining of children.
Opinions range from endorsing an old fashioned spanking with a wooden spoon to modern aged emotional coaching to positive behaviour. Ironically, critics at each end of the spectrum claim that both spanking and emotional coaching lead to the same outcome: undisciplined children who learned nothing from their punishment, and will likely behave worse than if they had not been disciplined in the first place.
