Paulsen: A defence of Saskatoon's world-class art gallery

I was fortunate to attend the Remai Modern gala opening last week. To describe the gallery as spectacular or stunning is a disservice to the project.
For the past five or so years, the words “art gallery” in Saskatoon immediately cued the complainers and the haters. The project was always contrasted against homelessness, poverty, addictions and other serious social issues. The gallery could never win that fight.
No one has made the claim that funding for art is more important than al
