Multi-billion-dollar PotashCorp, Agrium merger set to close Jan. 1

A multi-billion-dollar merger between the world’s largest fertilizer company and a massive agricultural supply firm is set to close on Jan. 1 after the proposed deal cleared its final regulatory hurdle this week.
Potash Corp. of Saskatchewan Inc. and Agrium Inc. said in a joint news release Wednesday that the deal, which was announced in September 2016, can proceed after being granted approval by the U.S. Federal Trade Commission.
