Missing persons legislation comes into effect

Police in Saskatchewan now have more powers to access a missing person’s information in cases where a crime is not suspected, after amended provincial legislation came into effect on Friday.
The Missing Persons and Presumption of Death Act, amended last year, outlines how police and family members of a missing person can access information about the person.
The act will now allow police to obtain search orders when a missing minor or vulnerable adult is believed to be in a building, as wel
