Legal researchers across Canada delve into Stanley trial

When Gerald Stanley headed to trial last month to face a second-degree murder charge in connection with the shooting death of Colten Boushie, law professor David Tanovich didn’t plan to follow the proceedings.
All reports suggested Stanley had fatally shot Boushie, a 22-year-old Cree man from Red Pheasant First Nation, in the back of the head at point-blank range.
