La Ronge council passes alcohol strategy, consulting on implementation plan

Many who live in La Ronge hope a new alcohol strategy approved by councillors will help address alcohol-related harm in the remote community.
The strategy includes numerous policy changes, including banning alcohol sales in bars or off-sales before 11 a.m., and banning off-sales after 11 p.m. It also limits the sale of alcohol on Sundays, statutory holidays, month-end paydays and Canada Child Benefit paydays, except for licensed dining.
