'It's too much': Demand for Mobile Crisis Centre continues to grow

When Rita Field started working with Saskatoon’s Mobile Crisis Centre in 1980, she and her colleagues would typically respond to 25 calls a day.
Now, staff respond to four times that number during busy times — and the calls seem to become more complex and multi-faceted every day.
“It’s gotten to the point where it’s too much,” Field said. “We have to triage and put people in a bit of a queue.”
